12 Oct 2009Norman Howitt

We are very sorry to announce that Norman Howitt, the Club's President, passed away on Monday 12th October at the end of a very brief stay in hospital. He had spent the Sunday morning at the Club as usual, helping members young and old. Norman's rowing career with Cambois Rowing Club was lifelong, and he served as an umpire in the region. For many newcomers to the Club and to the sport, of all ages, Norman's was the friendly face that particularly made them feel welcome while they were settling in. He will be greatly missed.

In the next round they were unlucky to lose by only three-quarters of a length to a crew from Marlow.

Congratulations for doing the club proud Sarah !

One of the advantages of the club being so close to the sea is we occasionally train on the beach. Here are a few pictures of the juniors cooling down after a run along the sands.

A series of very close knock-out races were held over a 250 metre course from the road bridge to the clubhouse. The winning team comprised of Luke and Josh Dixon, Paul Freeman, Daniel Stephenson and Daniel Jamieson as cox.
